I expect that "Great Expectations" is an interesting story

We read a book, "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens in my writing class.

I expect that it would be an interesting story because Dickens is a great author who wrote famous  "Christmas Carol".

A boy, Pip, who lost his parents, is frightened by a convict, steals food and gives it to him.

Can guns protect people's lives?

I wonder if guns can really protect people.

I oppose to the idea that people should have weapons such as guns because people sometimes make a mistake.

Years ago, a Japanese student was shot to be killed by mistake in the United States in the Halloween night. He entered someone's property to ask the way to his friend's house, not understanding the word "Freeze!" and was shot by the property owner.

If the owner had not had a gun, he wouldn't have to die. I wish guns were prohibited among ordinary people.

US Open Tennis

We went to the US open tennis the other day. Japanese tennis player Nishioka is nineteen years old but he was good. I hope he’ll become bigger. I’m sorry that Nishikori lost the game and we couldn’t see his game. Federer’s backhand was beautiful !

Japan Day (Chapter 7)

My family and I went to "Japan Day" festival in Cetral Park the other day.

There were a lot of artists' paformances such as Japanese drums, live painting of Mount Fuji, dancing, and so on.

But our aim was to see the AKB48. Do you know them? They are currently the most popular Japanese idle singer group.

Their fashion style is regarded to be influenced by the subculture from Akihabara, Tokyo, such as cute girls animations and cartoons, which is very popular among the young generation.

I tried to approach the AKB's stage closer, but a lot of people were in front of me. I took some pictures and videos of AKB. It was really an exciting stage.

A World Traverer (Chapter 6)

Our guest, Kazuto, stayed with my family for five days this week. He is a son of my friend's friend.

He has been traveling around the world since June last year. I think his challenge is an extermely wonderful concept.

He has already been to 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and North America.  I was astonished.

The United States was the last country for him to visit.  He went back to Japan today. I was glad to know him.

Research Paper (Chapter 5)

When I entered graduate school three years ago, I wanted to contribute to useful research on children and school teachers.

I had to write one hundred pages, and quoted many literarures in my research paper. My passion for researching faded because I was under strong pressure.

When my data disappeared, I was so shocked that I wanted to wander around downtown. But, I could find spare data. So, I graduated.

Mario cart Ⅱ (Chapter 4)

My son is the best Mario Cart player in my family. His rate is ten times and contrast with mine.

When I play online games, my rate lessens and I am dissapointed.

I said, "The race course is bad". I thought I required the other course. But my logic is probably  wrong. It is because I need practice actually.

Mario Curt (Chapter 3)

Recently, I play the video game, "Super Mario Curt 8" with my husband or son. Mario has been a classic character in the Nintendo games.

When I am doing my homework, my husband often tempts me to play Mario Cart.

I am not as good as my hasband, because I cannot drift accrately.

He encourages me to play it.  We have a lot of fun playing Mario Cart.

Special Education Research (Chapter 2)

When I was in Japan, I was a school psychologist, and my job was consultation to school teachers and parents. It was really interesting to me.

Also, last year, I analyzed the over one thousand school teachers' data.

Now, I am concentrating editting the data to use it for writing a research paper.

It is obvious that this research is very important, and  I hope it will be available for school teachers, parents and children.

Why I became a psychological counselor (Chapter 1)

I wanted to assist people who are in trouble.

So, I mastered psychological counseling in the graduate school in Tokyo.

Then, I became a psychological counselor.

Psychology is a study of analyzing human mind and behavior.

Because I live in the U.S., I want to observe American psychologists' work.

Ingress is a healthy online game

Do you know the mobile online game, Ingress?  It's a multiplayer role playing game which Google Corporation provides. Anyone can participate in the game if you can use GPS with your smartphone.

When you play Ingress, you get healthy because you have to walk to the game portal such as train stations, buildings, shops, monuments, and so on. When you reach one of the portals near you, you push the huck button, and then you get some points. There are several Ingress portals in the Adelphi Universty region. Please try Ingress, if you are interested.

Broadway Musical

I went to see the Broadway musical," On the Town" with my ELS friends last Thursday. The musical is about the three sailors who fall in love with the women.

We enjoyed beautiful songs, cool dance and so on. It was worth watching. I feel that musical is a
wonderful American culture.

The power of imagination

Once opon a time, there was the Narutonia in a valley. Because of severe sandstorm, it was covered with dust, and the all things including grass and trees died. As a result, people and animals there lived in poverty. In the cold, they trembled and children were crying. There was no imagination among people. They thought they should provide sacrifice to God.

One day, a little girl with her brown hair, called Sue,  came to the Narutonia from outside bringing a plenty of blue coarse fruits in her basket.

She shared these fruits with the people. A man said, "This is very good! It's like a taste of meet". A woman said, "It's delicious! It's like vegitable". A child said, "Yummy! It's like chocorate".

She gave these fruits to the animals, too. An elephant said, "I have never eaten that delicious fruits." A lion said, "It's the best food I have eaten."  A squirrel said, "It's so sweet that it melts in my mouth." Thus, they were saved from poverty. They rejoiced.

The squirrel followed her secretly. Sue went into the cave where she lived. The squirrel peeped her carefully. He saw Sue laughing at something, and the blue fluits came out from nothing in front of her.  Then, she jumped, and another bunch of fruits came out.  The squirrel was surprised and said, "How amazing!" At last, he found out that the secret of producing fruits was her imagination.

My classmates in ELS

Our class in ELS consists of seventeen students. There are students from many countries; Saudi Arabia, China, Columbia, and Japan.

I have foreign friends. My friend from Columbia is very powerful. She swims in the pool in the Adelphi University in only forty five minutes lunch time!  I was surprised to know it.

My Chinese friend showed me many photos of her travel. She explained, "This castle is very beautiful."  They are the photos of famous Osaka Castle in Japan.  I was glad to hear that.

I will go to watch the Broadway musical," On the Town" with my ELS friends on Thursday.
I hope that we'll have a lot of fun.

The outcome of drivers license test

I went to the Department of Motor Vehicles to take a dirives license test on Friday. It's very hard for foreigners to get drivers licsense in the US. After I took a written test, I had to wait for a little while. The outcome of my test was "You passed!".  I rejoiced to hear that.

The paper test was not very difficult because I could take it in Japanese language. I could get a lerners permit.

How is it difficult for a foreigner to get a drivers license? You need many IDs such as your passport with visa, health insurance card, utility bill, bank card, a letter from the Social Security Office and so on. It was very difficult for me to collect all the IDs because I don't have a job here.

Next, I have to take a road test soon.

Snow in NY

At first, when I was in Japan, I heard it snows a lot in New York. After I came to the U.S., in December and January, I came to think it doesn't snow much in NY. But, in fact, the amount of snow here is as much as that I heard of before. So, my husband, son and I had to struggle removing snow.

I noticed some tree limbs around my house leaned under the weight of snow. Because the snow has melted, I'd better to cut the limbs.

Our kitty Amelio passed away

I feel very sad, because my kitty died today for a serious disease. There was no cure. Actually, I wanted to  write about a more pleasant story today, but I can only think of my kitty now. So, I'm writing about him.

His name was Amelio. We called him "Ahmeh". He was five months old.  He liked to play with my family very much. My husband , son and I rejoiced to play with him every day. He could play soccer with a little ball with my husband. Can you believe it?  Amelio liked to catch and play with  moving things. So, when my husband kicked a ball, Amelio ran after it immediately.

In addition, he liked coarse things, because cats sharpen their claws with coarse things.

I still cannot believe my little Amelio died. I patted him on his back softly and he looked very pleased. I miss him very much. But he doesn't have to feel pain any more. I will never foget him.
